The Modifero Child Presence Detection System is a seat-based passenger safety solution for school buses and minibuses. Sensors installed in the monitored passenger seats detect occupancy and, when the vehicle is switched off, the system provides visual and audible warnings if passenger presence is detected. Available in configurations for different numbers of monitored passenger seats.
The Modifero Child Presence Detection System is designed for school buses, school minibuses and other student transport vehicles where detecting passengers remaining inside the vehicle after a journey is an important part of passenger safety.
Sensors installed directly in the monitored passenger seats allow the system to electronically determine whether a seat is occupied. Information from the seats is processed by the system's electronic modules and main control unit, providing the driver with an additional electronic safety layer during end-of-route vehicle checks.
During vehicle operation, seat sensors monitor passenger presence on the seats connected to the system.
When the journey is completed and the vehicle is switched off, the system evaluates the information received from the monitored seats. If passenger presence is detected, visual and audible warnings alert the driver that the passenger compartment requires attention.
This provides an additional electronic safeguard against a child or passenger remaining unnoticed inside the vehicle after the end of a journey.
Each passenger seat selected for monitoring is equipped with an occupancy sensor. This means that the system receives passenger-presence information directly from the seats rather than relying solely on a general cabin detection method.
The modular architecture allows the system to be configured according to the actual number of passenger seats that need to be monitored in the vehicle.
Different school buses and minibuses can have significantly different seating arrangements. For this reason, the system is offered according to the number of passenger seats that will actually be monitored, rather than the total nominal seating capacity of the vehicle.
How to select your configuration:
Count only the passenger seats that you want to monitor and select the corresponding configuration from the product options.
The driver's seat is not included. If a front passenger seat does not require monitoring, it should also be excluded from the selected quantity.
Example: If your vehicle has 16 passenger seats but only 15 of them require electronic monitoring, select the 15 Seats configuration.
Children may fall asleep or otherwise remain unnoticed inside a school transport vehicle at the end of a journey. Electronic seat monitoring provides the driver with an additional method of detecting passenger presence and supports established end-of-route vehicle inspection procedures.
The Child Presence Detection System is part of the Modifero Passenger Safety Systems platform. Its modular architecture allows different passenger-safety functions to be configured according to vehicle and project requirements.

Seat layouts, seat mounting arrangements and electrical installations vary between minibuses and buses. The required number of seat sensors, electronic modules and wiring components is therefore determined according to the selected number of monitored passenger seats and the vehicle installation.
